May Tarot Forecast

By Adrienne Abeyta

Aries

High Priestess (Page of Pentacles)

Intuition is often misunderstood as some cosmic force or flashing signal. We expect that some divine voice in our head will give us explicit advice or directions. Don't be fooled by all this mumbo jumbo. While certainly there are some who experience their intuition this way, it is more likely a subtle knowing or feeling that better describes your intuition. If you'd like to have a better connection with your own intuition, slow down and get in touch with the sensations in your body. You will notice this month how much your body provides you with feedback. There is no quick and easy way to develop this awareness, so practice. A situation involving a young person will turn out to be completely different than you expected. Your sentiments may cloud your better judgment when it comes to the people you care for. Rather than making snap decisions, stay attuned to your feelings and notice what arises.

Taurus

Hierophant (6 of Pentacles)

Being looked up to as an expert or a wise guru doesn't always mean that you actually deserve it. There are many people in leadership positions who have merely earned their titles through a popularity contest. A real role model is someone who has the humility not to flaunt their status, and the integrity to practice what they preach.  Your sound advice and consistent nature brings attention your way this month. People will look to you for answers and practical solutions. Don't be shy. Share your thoughts and observations with them. It is how you've been dealing with one of your own problems that earns you the most praise. Whatever the case, don't miss your opportunity to teach (or learn from) others new solutions for a more meaningful life.

Gemini

Magician (Queen of Wands)

Yet again, you are in the powerful role as the creator. Lucky you. What wasn't initiated last month has another opportunity. If not for lack of trying, perhaps you just went about it a little too slowly or with doubt. Not to worry this month, however, you're shooting from the heart now. Keep your intention aligned with your attention. Just because you say you intend on creating something doesn't always mean that it will manifest. Your attention is the emotional energy grounded in your beliefs - conscious or not - it is the bow for launching your arrows of intention. Setbacks are an illusion. Don't give in to the silly obstacles your mind throws your way. A goal close to your heart has no other choice but to make it into your life. A wise and confident woman will aid in your endeavor. Be open to the synchronicities this relationship yields.

Cancer

Strength (Queen of Swords)

Courage has its reward as peace. Consider how peaceful you feel after  you overcome a fear or difficulty. Something as simple as owning up to a mistake, letting go of a resentment, or confronting a personal demon. These are all ways in which you face your fears or continue, in spite of them. Being strong should not be confused with avoidance or denial, however. Your so-called tolerance, lack of concern or false bravado is not real strength. These are strategies for dealing with your fears, not the actual problem. Fears simply mask the problems and distract you from taking action. Examine what you are most afraid of and you will discover your undeveloped assets. No need to get upset about it. Be kind to yourself, the way you would to a small child afraid of the dark. The more in touch you are with your fears, the more mastery you have over them.

Leo

Fool (Knight of Cups)

Ever done something so crazy that you don't even recognize yourself? Well, here you find yourself again this month, seeking an adventure of the heart. On the surface this may look like a love affair but deep down it's a quest for the holy grail. Whether prompted by a feeling of restlessness or the fresh feeling of freedom, your impulse to jump into the unknown will yield likely surprises. In the area of romance: an exciting connection may tempt you into a foreign territory; it's better to risk your pride than an established relationship. In the area of personal growth: your heart, although recently bruised, is ready to open itself. Be mindful not to lose yourself to another, though. The goal of this quest is to lead you into a deeper relationship with your source. After this exciting month, let me know how you relate to the old saying: "fools rush in where angels fear to tread.”

Virgo

Devil (6 of Swords)

Habits, whatever they may be, were greatly influenced, if not wholly formed, during childhood. You learned much of your behavior through imitation (monkey see - monkey do) - imitation of your parents, peers, siblings and the media. As a result, deeply entrenched mental patterns steer your behavior, driving your life like a sort of cruise control. You might believe that you are making decisions but the truth is, you're probably just reacting. When you're finally bored enough or become committed to working some spiritual program, you will begin to change these patterns. The first step, however, is to see the error in your thinking. You are hostage to a mindset, that's all. Change your mind and you will change your life. Perspective drives prospective! Sure, it's a little uncomfortable to rewrite the script but true freedom is equivalent to your ability to make choices - consciously.

Libra

Death (5 of Pentacles)

What bothered you most a year ago? A month ago? Even a week ago? It's probable that whatever the case, your obsessing over it made it much worse than it was. Certainly there are problems that feel insurmountable, tragic and even life threatening. However, it's how you think about these problems that causes the most pain. Life challenges equal life changes, and if you can remember that you are never given more than you can handle, you will always come out okay. In fact, what if you believed that you are given exactly what you need to grow - painful as it might be. Clinging to life or pouting in misery, causes you to miss the beauty and new opportunities in change. It's time to let go of a problem you've been holding on to. Which is not to say ignore it, but rather tell yourself a better story about it. You are not defined by what  happens to you, you are what you choose to be.

Scorpio

Empress (Ace of Wands)

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, or so they say. Ever think about how much energy is expended in trying to impress other people rather than feeling comfortable in your own skin? Similarly, why strive to be accepted by others if you won't even accept yourself unconditionally.

If you really want to make an impact on the world around you, all you have to do is express your inner beauty. People respond better to others who are free to be themselves. Self-expression is your privilege as a human being; why waste it trying to prove anything to anyone. Make an effort this month to recognize all the beauty around you. This practice is not only beneficial to others whom you grace with your compliments, it's also self- fulfilling. Gratitude bestows love and well-being. When you care for yourself, you have more to give to others, and the more you give, the more you receive. Ain't life grand!

Sagittarius

Tower (7 of Pentacles)

Every circumstance has a silver lining, it's all a matter of perspective, right? Your answer to this illustrates how you cope with challenges. Are you inclined to withdrawal under pressure or look for the solution? Do you feel like a victim or a hero? Notice for a moment the course your life has taken, consider whether you feel responsible or not. Life doesn't happen to you, it happens because of you. You have a unique opportunity this month to change the course of your life and while there might be some unfortunate experiences that catalyze this, the future is in your hands. Although a plan you've counted on doesn't yield the results you hoped, it does open up space for you to reassess your vision. Chances are you were making decisions out of fear anyway. Security is an inner attitude not an external experience. Until you learn this, your security is at the command of the world.

Capricorn

Moon (Page of Wands)

The ability to see clearly is a hard earned talent. It's rather easy to be distracted and confused by the ego. The ego, like a child, is impulsive, always wanting more, and not usually open to waiting. All this commotion hinders your ability to see things as they are. Instead you might feel worried, apathetic, confused, restless, impatient and irritable. Don't mistake your fleeting feelings as you. Learn to be the observer and simply notice the ebb and flow of your feelings. You might even notice a correlation between certain feelings and specific experiences or people. Think of your feelings as messengers. Listen closely to what they are telling you but then make your own decisions. This is a good first step in seeing clearly. This month your messengers might come in the form of restlessness and impatience. Perhaps, the urge to adventure and freedom are beckoning you. Be playful not reckless.

Aquarius

Lovers (Ace of Cups)

Love is in the air! Perhaps at first glance in the form of a relationship with another. Emotions are flowing and your cup will begin to runneth over. Rather than look for a container for all these feelings, try being with them yourself. No need to analyze, explain or project. It's not because of anything or anybody that you feel the way you do. Your emotional responses have come from within you. Back to love: take all the time you want to relish in such a wonderful feeling. Hold on to it and make it the lens you see your life through. Even your challenges will be tinted, not tainted, by love. This blissful feeling requires only one thing - unconditional self-love. The more you love yourself, the more you can love others. Love is the unifying thread of existence. With it, there is no loneliness only more love.

Pisces

Sun (Page of Cups)

It is said that while pain is inevitable, suffering is a choice. Tell that to a Pisces. The very essence of your nature is to feel the suffering around you. So to amend the above mentioned saying: suffering might not be a choice to you, but self-pity and cynicism are. When you listen to your innermost voice, you access the soul, and have the gift to heal. Your special gift is your ability to straddle the two worlds of form and non-form. When you work with this, you create a bridge by which others can cross. Use your gift this month, either on yourself or on someone who needs a healing touch. Don't be afraid to show the beauty hidden in the darkness. Remember, forgiveness requires a betrayal; compassion comes because of suffering; and healing is inspired through pain. Lead by example and give meaning to your suffering. You make the world around you brighter simply by being you.
