August Message from the Frolicking Fae

By Terri C.

featuring The Fey Tarot

The month of August brings us to the last of summer vacation, last minute trips, school shopping and the beginning of harvest time.

Many of us have also found ourselves in a place where we are dealing with an ever-increasing amount of stress.  Whether this is coming from work or home, we need to find a healthy way to work through this time.

It might be a great time to lose your self in Nature.  Visit the ocean or take a walk in the forest.  Enjoy some time away from the hustle and bustle of every day life.  Leave the cell phone and all other electronic devices behind, even if it’s just for a day!

A friend of mine, Celeste Heldstab, on Facebook, shared this amazing thought:

“If you notice yourself feeling anxious or depressed, use positive words to raise your energy. You do not have to make them into statements. Say words to yourself such as LOVE, CLARITY, WILL, INTENT. Say I AM STRONG, GIVING, CARING, COMMITTED, ABUNDANT, RADIANT, LIGHT, ENTHUSIASTIC, PEACEFUL, TRANQUIL, SERENE. Think of all the beautiful, inspiring words you know.”

I constantly talk to my clients about doing just this…and I think that many more of us need to put this into action immediately!

The Fae also want to encourage you to make a list of the little things that make you happy, then start doing them.  These should be inexpensive and fun, quick things to do.  Try to do at least one fun thing each day.  All work and no play, make unhappy Fae!

For those of you with school-age children, you may be feeling a bit of a pinch in the wallet this month.  Remember, you can choose to go a little slower and not spend as much this year.  Do what you can now, pay for those unavoidable expenses.  Then do a little more next month.  It does not all have to come out of the budget this month.

There does appear to be some extra finances becoming available from an unexpected source towards the end of the month.

Try to squeeze in one last “stay-cation” type event before the busy school year starts.  Try to make it again, something that is fun but inexpensive.

August is also a time to begin harvesting.  Please remember leave the last apple on the tree or the last tomato on the vine, as an offering to our Fae friends.  They have been busy, working to help all the plants this growing season and are definitely due a healthy reward.

When it comes to work, school or business, you may find that you need to take a little firmer approach than usual.  New ground rules may need to be set.  It’s ok to take a stand, if you feel it’s necessary.  It will be received well.

With Labor Day approaching as fast as the apples are ripening…the Fae asked me to share a recipe with you.  This is one that is fast, easy, inexpensive and one that will make an AWESOME Fae offering  (If you care to share a crumb or two…This is a definite crowd pleaser!)!

Apple Cake from the kitchen of Terri. C.

1 cup sugar

1/3 cup butter or margarine (or applesauce if you’d like to make it fat free)

1 egg

1 cup flour

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon nutmeg

½ teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking soda

¼ cup water (room temperature)

2 cups peeled, thinly sliced apples (the thinner, the better)  (I prefer to use Granny Smith or Honey Crisp apples…but choose one you like)

(optional) ½ cup nuts (walnuts, cashews…etc (to suit your taste))

Cream sugar and butter. Add egg.  Beat until fluffy.  Stir in flour, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt.  In a separate bowl, combine baking soda and water.  Combine all and mix well.  Fold in sliced apples and nuts.

Spread into a 9 inch baking pan (no grease, no flour).

Bake at 350 degrees for 40 – 45 minutes.

We prefer this as is…but can be served warm or cold, with ice-cream, whipping cream or cheddar cheese.

Enjoy!

So, remember to move forward through this month, put your focus on dealing with your personal stress, being a little more firm with your professional world and bringing everything into balance with some fun!

As always, I hope you find that this message from the Fae helps guide you through the ups and downs of this month!!  Remember to say a special little thank you to our Fae Friends, for the guidance, insight, and entertainment!

See you again next month, and keep the faith!
