Rachel’s Esoteric Journey

By Lorraine Kemble

RWS Tarot 07 Chariot

7. The Chariot

After suffering major disappointments with her love-life, Rachel now finds herself in a deep depression. She is under the care of a stern-looking psychiatrist who personifies The Chariot. Not for the first occasion, Rachel thinks he is taking charge of her life, yet, is relieved that someone is doing something, without an ulterior motive.

Rachel has been lucky enough not to have needed medical intervention previously. Now, she is taking antidepressants and finds the side effects vile. Therefore, she steadily weans herself off the drugs and feels better, knowing that she is in control. The psychiatrist is solid, earthy and formative; however, now he considers Rachel as ‘plodding on’ in gaining stability and has just started a new technique with her. He earnestly speaks about using her mind, as an altruistic measure, for herself.

Rachel has a fairly new acquaintance, a Hindu girlfriend, to whom she has been tactfully introduced. Nina is worldly, yet Rachel, for the first time authentically wishes to learn about the beginnings of the alchemical processes and jewels from within; to begin encountering herself.

They both embark on a course of spiritual psychotherapy. Rachel loves its philosophy, wanting to delve into the transpersonal, integrative approach and orientations. She finds the strength within herself, to formally train with the organization. Rachel is finally discovering the ability to love and respect herself, together with the ability to make decisions.

Significantly, the Chariot is sitting within a canopy of six-pointed stars. Six, is numerically heartfelt, empathic, of home and nurturing material, also being the number of the Tree of Life.

The zodiac sign for The Chariot is Cancer.

Planetary-wise, the rulership is by the Moon, representing emotions, instincts, sensitivity, and the unconscious.
