February 2019
By Lalia Wilson

Happy Valentine’s Day! It’s time to make your significant other, or significant other-to-be, aware that you are interested. On Valentine’s Day the Moon is in Gemini and Venus is in Capricorn, so any traditional gifts or whimsical and clever gifts will be in harmony with the vibration of the day. The Moon in Gemini, particularly, is fickle and would love to head off for a weekend or longer to a lovely beach, and is willing to go with whoever asks.

All cards were randomized before these drawings, with four decks being used. There were two repeated cards, which in some ways indicate a collective reading for all of us. The repeated cards, two times for each, are The Wheel of Fortune and The World. The Wheel reminds us that luck always changes. If we are lucky now we should plan for a future in which things are less in our favor. The World card is one of accomplishment and completion. In some area of our lives we need to acknowledge our successes.

All four suits are about equally represented. Three of the minor arcana are missing: the sevens, the eights, and the Kings. With this many missing parts, we may feel that we are trying to make things happen but significant helpers and resources are absent so that it is difficult to get it all handled.

The Fire signs are shown by the Witches Tarot (2012), from Ellen Dugan and Mark Evans, published by Llewellyn. The Earth signs are illustrated by The Winter Waite, which was created by James Battersby and Christine Aguiar (2018), and is available at https://www.tarotcollectibles.com/store. The Air signs are depicted by the Everyday Witch Tarot (2017) created by Deborah Blake and Elisabeth Alba, and published by Llewellyn. The Water Signs are the Wizard’s Tarot, by Corrine Kenner and John Blumen and published by Llewellyn (2011)

Karma/Judgment and the Queen of Pentacles:

Dear Aries, your career and public image have overwhelmed your life. It is as if you have chosen a path which keeps expanding minute by minute. This tendency has been ongoing. Every time you master something your workload increases. You also feel like you are in the spotlight, and you are. The Queen of Pentacles is telling you to take a little time to stop and smell the roses.

The Magician and the Five of Wands:

Dear Taurus, activities with your friends take the highlight this month. It looks like your friends are a large and dynamic group of people with many talents. The month will be full of action and communication. Money will be on your mind. Some large amount of money is coming to you this year… but arrange your budget as if you will not see the money, as you need to be prudent. This luck cycle is not that frequent. You will need to rescue yourself the next time.

Justice and the Knight of Swords:

Gemini, you have a career breakthrough, or at least an interlude of success at the end of the month, as long as you play it straight. You have the gift of gab, but you must use it to an honest purpose for your long-term success. Both Justice and the Knight of Swords can indicate legal trouble if you have been fast and loose with the facts. Honesty in word and deed is what will work best for you.

The World and the Nine of Cups:

Dear Cancer, you have concerns about your partner, who is working very hard. Your emotional self is not getting what it needs, those times of joy and affirmation between loving couples. A short beach vacation needs to be prioritized, so your partner does not become successful without you being part of the success story. Your emotional needs also matter!

Death and the 10 of Pentacles:

Dear Leo, something is coming to an end. There is a pause in your life in which you can catch your breath and either get a new house or substantially renovate your present house. If you watch enough HGTV no home improvement is impossible. Knock out a few walls? Expand the house’s footprint? No problem. You have the resources to make something major happen on the home front. Good luck!

Virgo:

The Wheel of Fortune and the Six of Wands:

Dear Virgo, the Wheel of Fortune reminds us that what goes up must come down. You can count on cycles of luck and success in life. You are currently in a good cycle regarding real estate. Whether you are a renter, home owner, or developer, your current luck is positive. Go with your vision. If you are among the poor, your luck will bring gifts. If you are among the wealthy your luck demands that you enrich others.

The World and the Two of Swords:

Dear Libra, your firm foundation in a strong family has served you well in life. You are now about to leap forward in your path. It is possible that you have launched your children in life. Or it could be something else that is freeing you to pursue your own goals. You are still caught between how much you owe that older generation versus how much you owe yourself and the next generation. The answer is what you decide.

The Hanged Man and the Six of Cups:

Dear Scorpio, it looks like a nostalgic month for you, a time of remembering old friendships and stories from your youth. In addition, and perhaps prompting this nostalgia, your own children are thriving. Whether you are a parent or a teacher or caregiver, children will be a big part of this month. Find the joy that children bring.

Hanged Man and the Ace of Cups:

You, Sagittarius, are waiting for love. Is a family wedding or other gathering coming up? It’s a positive time for family, and if you are single this is a good time to meet someone special. It looks like love is coming to you rather than you going out to seek it. Be yourself. Attend all family events. Invite people to your home. Love will happen.

Strength and the Page of Wands:

Dear Capricorn, you have a fantastic idea, something that will make you rich or famous, that is just coming into your consciousness. Most of this year you will benefit from remembering and recording your dreams and hunches. Prime the pump with creative writing or art. That big idea is right there like a bird at the window. Lure it to come inside.

The Moon and the Three of Swords:

Whoa Aquarius, it looks like you are emotionally fragile because of a loss. You still have old issues to resolve, perhaps some you are not aware of. Those old issues are being reactivated by current events. When you identify the old material and resolve it, your current situation is easy-peasy.

Pisces:

The Emperor and the Four of Swords:

Dear Pisces, you are repeating the Emperor from last month. He is telling you to be serious about money. Part of you wants to lie on the couch and vegetate. How can you be smart about your money, and have the leisure that you crave? One way is to make smart investments in funds or other items that do not require your day-to-day attention (but all investments require some attention). Be smart and make your money work for you.

You can use these Tarot Scopes to read your Sun sign, Moon sign or Rising Sign (also called your Ascendant). You can determine these by using free or low cost apps, or internet sites, and inputting your time, date and place of birth. The Rising sign indicates your entire life; the Sun sign is about your ego and creative forces, and the Moon sign is about your reigning needs, emotions, and flexibility.

The tarot cards used as illustrations for this column are ones that I or the editor, Terri Clement, admire and want to share with you. Note that decks have subtle differences of meaning as they are reinterpreted by a new creator/artist, and, of course, the tarot reader. Enjoy that flexibility of meaning and the artwork of these various decks. Reading articles with illustrations like these will help you determine the tarot decks that most fit you. If you get bored seeing my favorites, I’m open to suggestions and gifts.
