March 2017
By Lalia Wilson

Are you ready for Spring? According to the Solar Calendar, it arrives on March 20th here in the Northern Hemisphere. Here in the States, some of us are having the warmest winter on record, due in part to Mars, the planet of heat, transiting his home sign of Aries.

Which sign has the best outlook for March? It depends partly on what you consider the best outlook to be. I used a different deck of cards for each of the four elements. All cards were randomized. There were two repeated cards: The Empress and the Five of Swords. The Empress is a card of luxury, creativity, fertility, all things connected with Mother. She’s two months early for Mother’s Day, but perhaps a reminder for you to honor your mother and the creative, abundant, and fertile side of your own self. The Fives of Swords tell a different story. They speak of seeing things so differently that one will take action against the other. It is a quarrelsome energy that is being demonstrated in US politics these days.

The decks used for these readings were as follows. Fire signs: The Crystal Visions Tarot by Jennifer Galasso and published by U.S. Games Systems, Inc. Air signs: The Tarot of the Spirit by Pamela and Joyce Eakins, published by U.S. Games Systems, Inc. Earth signs: The Hobbit Tarot by Peter Pracownik and Terry Donaldson, published by U.S. Games Systems, Inc. Water signs: The Midcenturian Tarot designed and published by Madam Clara, available at http://www.madamclara.com/the-midcenturian-deck.html

The Hermit and the Five of Swords:

It’s time to stay close to home for a while, Aries. You may have some health concerns. If so, get it checked out. There is quarrelsome energy around you the first half of the month, as you are moving forward with many plans, regardless of the feelings or cooperation of others. The best of the month is that you slow down a bit mid-month, and partners and socializing look very good. You are popular and the center of attention on the social circuit.

The Empress and the Six of Wands:

With the Empress helping you behind the scenes, you are at your most creative, charming, and fertile. Any project related to these themes will have success this month. A lot of your life this month, dear Taurus, is going on in secret or concealed, or in your dreams. Sometimes these can be troublesome down the road if any of it is in a legal gray area. Speaking of which, if you are expecting money from an inheritance, or a contract, especially from overseas, this will be slow in making its way to you.

The Fool and the Ten of Pentacles:

It looks like new adventures with fruitful outcomes await you, dear Gemini. Will you be “discovered” this month, for a film role or modeling career? Win the lottery? Things look good. There is a lot in the planning stage as well. Make plans now for some action in May—a garden, book tour, travel adventure? An unusual friend assists you this month. It’s a good month to visit a family member who hasn’t seen you in a long while.

Strength and the Five of Swords:

Your budget frugalities are nearly over. Things will be turning around and your income will rise sometime after this month. Is your cash-flow problem because of home renovations? Your home looks beautiful and now you want to put it on display. Sure, invite guests. But some family members may be miffed. Possibly they are envious. Whatever their issue is, don’t let it spoil your day. Remain above the fray. If you don’t engage, they will have difficulty looking like anything but a fool.

The Unknown Card and the Seven of Pentacles:

Well, dear Leo, some things are going to remain a mystery, at least for this month. The second card, the Seven of Pentacles, tells us that something requires patience before being ready. There are some young men associated with your work, a new young boss? The work is demanding as you are transforming something or things. Your money situation is lightening up. Look for improvements in the coming months.

The Star and the Five of Wands:

Again, dear Virgo, we have two opposites. A card for Hope and Peace—the Star—and a card for conflict—the Five of Wands. Let’s start with the good news. Your work is going well. Money looks great! Now, about the behind-the-scenes action… Be careful, be legal, be circumspect. Do not do anything you would not like someone to do to you. Be particularly careful about sexual flings, as these can create future problems in the not-to-distant future.

The Moon and the Ten of Cups:

It looks like fantasies are coming true for you this month, Libra. Hurray! There is a lot of emotional and unconscious activity. Remember that emotions follow their own “logic” not that of the Left Brain. A female supervisor is on your side. You are looking good, though maybe eating too many treats this month—watch the candy. In addition, you have good money luck, your income will likely increase if you play by the rules.

World and the Ace of Swords:

Your need to count every penny is nearly over. Good things are coming your way in the Fall. Your private life, and Scorpio really knows how to have a private life, is full of fun and joy. You've ended a big project and deserve the rewards forthcoming. New ideas are at hand. You know exactly what you want to do next, and are determined to succeed. Things are quite promising.

The Hanged Man and the Eight of Swords:

Like Leo, waiting is a theme for you this month. You are waiting for something, likely having to do with home repairs after a flood—if this manifested in the physical realm—or having to do with family members having a great sharing/purging of feelings so that everyone needs to retreat for a while. The Second theme, the Eight of Swords, suggests that you have created these problems through your own actions, by your own self-defeating behavior. Friends will help you with all this by taking your mind off self-recrimination, suggesting alternate ways of dealing with your family, and helping with the cleanup at home.

The Chariot and the Three of Swords:

The Chariot is a card of movement. Are you buying a new car? Planning a road trip? The Three of Swords indicates a broken heart, wounded feelings. A sister can be a great resource and helper this month. Ask for her opinion and help. Clue in your partners, so that they can help, too. Your public reputation looks good this month and all year. Celebrate the good things, Capricorn! You tend to discount them.

The Empress and the Knight of Cups:

This month is one of creativity, love, joy and fertility. Either you are pursuing love, or someone is pursuing you. For you, money is good! Your career is on an upswing. Your dedication and persistence at work are going to pay off. This is a good month for a short, delightful trip.

Lovers and the Seven of Cups:

This month the focus is on you. Expect lots of activity, lots of social contact, and real opportunities for you that are single. You've had some concerns about your home or living arrangements. Whatever that was, it seems to no longer be an issue. If you have children or work with children, you will be surprised at how responsible they will be this month—maybe you are doing a good job? All-in-all a very social month with lots of fun for you. Enjoy!

You can use these Tarot Scopes to read your Sun sign, Moon sign or Rising Sign (also called your Ascendant). You can determine these by using free or low-cost apps, or internet sites, and inputting your time, date and place of birth. The Rising sign indicates your entire life; the Sun sign is about your ego and creative forces, and the Moon sign is about your emotions and flexibility.

The tarot cards used as illustrations for this column are ones that I or the editor, Terri Clement, admire and want to share with you. Note that decks have subtle differences of meaning as they are reinterpreted by a new creator/artist, and, of course, the tarot reader. Enjoy that flexibility of meaning and the artwork of these various decks. Reading articles with illustrations like these will help you determine the tarot decks that most fit you.
