Soothsayer's Corner: Colors and Meanings Part 2

Let’s now look at another area that may unfamiliar yet to some familiar. Here we are talking about the charkras and food. Each color represents a charkra as well as a part of the body or in some assistance it. 

Chakras

# 7  = crown = white

# 6 = brow = violet

# 5 = throat = blue

# 4 = heart = green & pink

# 3 = stomach = yellow

# 2 = sacral = orange

# 1 = base = red


Food groups colors 

Blue/purple = memory, healthy, aging, urinary tract

Red = heart, memory, urinary tract

Green = vision, strong bones & teeth

Yellow/orange = heart, vision, immune system

White = heart & maintaining healthy cholesterol levels


In some cultures colors can represent energy wave patterns or shapes. In the eastern/Asian culture you can find this. This is mostly found in when dealing with the Chinese numerology system, feng shui, and Chinese astrology.

Fire = red, crimson, burgundy, orange, fuscia

Water = blue, turquoise, indigo, aqua, gray

Earth = green, brown, black


Ribbon Colors for use in spells and rituals:

White = purity, healing, blessing, wisdom, innocence

Red = energy, passion, vitality, willpower, success

Orange = creativity, prosperity, emotional strength

Yellow = mental power, wealth, communication, travel

Green = growth, fertility, harmony

Light blue = healing, serenity, peace, security

Dark blue = success in long-term plans, clarity

Purple = spiritual development, luck, psychic abilities

Pink = gentle love, romance, friendship, tranquility

Brown = grounding, stability, endurance

Black = binding, depression, absorbing negativity 


The 4 Shades 

Warm shades =   Associated with the sun. useful for harnessing its life-giving Power in spells.        red     orange    yellow   pink 

Cool shades =     Brings attributes such as clarity, cleansing & serenity to spells.         blue    indigo   purple    turquoise

Natural shades =   Associated with the earth & correspond to natural growth.          green  brown   gray

Spiritual shades =   Spiritual concepts.     white    black   silver   gold


Astral  or  zodiac colors

Aries = red , white , pink

Taurus = green , pink , red , yellow

Gemini = yellow , silver , green , red , blue

Cancer = white , green , brown

Leo = gold , orange , red , green

Virgo = gray , yellow , gold , black

Libra = royal blue , light brown , black

Scorpio = black , red , brown

Sagittarius = dark blue , purple , gold , red

Capricorn = red , black , dark brown

Aquarius = light blue , dark blue , green

Pisces = aquamarine , royal blue , white , green 


Planetary colors

 Earth = browns , tans

Jupiter = royal blue , purples , bright blue

Mars = all shades of red

Mercury = yellows , orange , yellow – green

Moon = silver , pink , cream , light gray , white , pale blue

Saturn = black , darkest blue , darkest purple , dark  brown

Sun = gold , orange , deep yellow

Venus = pink , green , pale blue , all pastel colors


Days of the week colors  

Sunday = yellow , gold , the sun

Monday = white , silver , light gray , the moon

Tuesday = red , mars

Wednesday = purple , yellow , mercury

Thursday = blue , Jupiter

Friday = green , venus

Saturday = black , purple , Saturn


Seasonal colors

Spring = yellow           Summer = red     

Autumn = blue           Winter = dark green


Basic elemental colors

East = air , yellow     

           Knowledge , inspiration , harmony , herbs , intellect , ideas,

           Travel , freedom , revealing the truth , finding lost things,

            Movement , psychic abilities

South = fire , red

            Change , freedom , perception , visions , spiritual 

             Illumination , learning , love , will , sexuality , energy ,

             Authority , healing , destruction , purification

West = water , blue 

              Plants , healing , emotions , absorbing , communion with

             The spiritual , purification , the subconscious mind , love ,

              Friendships , marriage , fertility , happiness , sleep , 

              Dreams , the psychic

North = earth , dark green

              Wealth , prosperity , surrendering self – will , empathy , 

               Incorporation , business , employment , stability , success ,

               Fertility

Center = white 

              Enlightment , finding your life path , spiritual knowledge ,

               Seeing & understanding karmic paths in life


Traditional native American colors:

Black = hearing , harmony , listening

Blue = intuition , teaching , serving

Brown = knowing , self – discipline

Gray = honoring , friendship

Green = will , living

Orange = learning , kinship

Pink = creativity , working

Purple = wisdom , gratitude , healing

Red = faith , communication

Rose = seeing , motivation

White = magnetism , sharing

Yellow = love , overcoming  challenges


In the use of colors with tarot cards, each color on the design or picture has its own meaning. Also the shapes can have meaning, but that is another topic and area to look at another time. Here is a list of what the colors mean in the tarot deck :

Red   =   signifies life force, aggression, sexuality and a martial energy

Blue  =   is passive and receptive. It is particularly associated with the female principles and with water

White  =  denotes purity

Green =  symbolizes fertility, growth and success

Orange  = the color of change and rebirth as well as sexual energy

Yellow  =  represents spirituality and the spiritualized life force

Black   =  as usual, the color of death or sudden unexpected changes 


This brings us to the end of our adventure of the colors, their meanings and the different ways that they can be used. So as you can see that the use of colors can have lots of meanings and uses. It can be somewhat complicated but overall an interesting subject. I hope that this has been fascinating and   has given you some food for thought.
